Was the reprint editor purposely trying to ruin Lee and Kirby's reputations?

If you started reading comics in the early 1970's the edited versions of well-crafted Silver Age masterpieces might have made you wonder what all the fuss was about.

  1. Could you please explain more clearly why you think a reprint editor might try to damage the reputations of Lee & Kirby? Are you saying the reprints didn't make sense? So far, the edits appear pretty transparent to me. Please explain why they might damage their reputation...

  2. It was me putting on my tinfoil hat and pretending to be conspiracy theorist. The Reprint Editor obviously did the best he could but compaing the 1970s versions to the originals makes it seem logical that it would make readers from different decades have a different opinions of Lee/Kirby.
