A Kirby rarity

A symbolic splash.  It would be four more issues before the King treated comic fans to another symbolic  splash. Both stories were reprinted in GIANT-SIZE CAPTAIN AMERICA #1 (1975)

In the Before Time, ere the cyber-wizards constructed a digital ever-growing tower of Babel, I was a fanzine publisher/editor. Marvel approved of my amatuerish efforts and occasionally they would send me items. One time it was a binder containing photocopies of every issue of WORLD OF FANTASY.

When I rediscovered this decades-old binder I interpreted it as synchronicity recruiting me as an agent of fortune. If you enjoy any of today or tomorrow's art don't than thank me, thank the Unknown Staffer!
The first six issues of WORLD OF FANTASY were published in 1956. They contained 36 stories by 22 artists from Sol Brodsky...

to Kurt Schaffenberger

and even Dave Berg before he went MAD.

Only 5 issues of WORLD OF FANTASY were published in 1957. They presented 30 stories by 24 artists including future Kirby inkers Dick Ayers

and Paul Reinman.

Rainy Day Fun: Identify the Kirby inkers.

Todd McFarlane and Marc Silvestri each embellished 2 of the story pages of PHANTOM FORCE #1. Can you tell which is which? Hey you have a 50/50 chance of being right!
