NEW/OLD KIRBY IN THE SHOPS TODAY Behind this Jeun-Siik Ahn cover might be some young fan's introduction to the King. Thanks Disney/Marvel for perpetuating the legend!!!

Jack Kirby penciled and inked (with the help of his wife Roz) 11 Green Arrow shorties for a total of 65 pages. As was the convention with the Fifties floppies all the stories began with a Splash Panel rather than a Splash Page.

Collecting GIANT-SIZE INVADERS #1, INVADERS #1-22 and ANNUAL #1, MARVEL PREMIERE #29-30, and AVENGERS #71 including the covers and text pages.
Although it is not acknowledged on the credits page Kirby did the covers for INVADERS #3-9, 11, 12 and 14-16.

There IS a bonus page showing Kirby's original art for this cover and the Ed Hannigan sketch it was based on!

If you bought a copy of the only Atlas war comic on the spinner rack (possibly because of the Kirby cover) you were rewarded with 2 Kirby written & drawn stories!!!

71 YEARS AGO TODAY retailers might have had as many as 22 DC comics available, three of them with Kirby covers - maybe!!!

Harry (Joe Simon biographer) Mendryk says that at this point in time Kirby and Simon had been fighting in the war for so long that the inventory of product they had provided DC with was running out.
Comic historian consensus is that this cover is by Kirby but Steven Thompson, who has an excellent blog devoted solely to ADVENTURE COMICS, is not convinced
