ON THE SPINNER RACKS 57 YEARS AGO TODAY. Kirby or Ditko?

Two Morrow's 1998 FINAL EDITION JACK KIRBY CHECKLIST lists the cover of STRANGE TALES #93 as being Ditko embellishing Kirby pencils. As does http://www.comics.org/issue/16780/ and Mike's Amazing World.

However http://ditkocultist.com claims it is actually the first cover of STRANGE TALES that Ditko both penciled and inked....

Ever wonder why scientists of the 1960 proto-Marvel Universe thought it was a good idea to supersize insects?

Increasing the length of Kirby's giant menace stories to 13 pages made it possible to add such details. This story is from TALES TO ASTONISH #14. Like the previous issue, it also had a Kirby/Ditko cover.

56 YEARS AGO TODAY

After 10 months, 5 issues and 120 pages neither Lee or Kirby had come up with the anger-as-transformation-trigger for the Hulk yet.

It seems obvious now but in 1962 it was an idea still waiting to be thought.

60 YEARS AGO TODAY

The only Kirby-covered comic for November 1958 had already shipped.
And it didn't even have any Kirby interior art.
This was one of those rare months when another Marvel employee had more covers published than Kirby.

That's right - the amazingly individualistic Steve Ditko!

91 YEARS AGO TODAY - Frequent Kirby collaborator, Steve Ditko was born

54 years ago this Kirby/Ditko cover collaboration went on sale.

JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #88 had the second appearance of Loki and the third for Odin.
The 13 page story contains more panels depicting the fabled realm than the five previous issues combined!

One of the six panels on the last page was not by Kirby and Ayers.  To find out which panel it is and who drew it go to:

Three years earlier Steve Ditko did the art for a five page Charlton Comics Thor story.
