61 YEARS AGO TODAY

Jack Kirby penciled and inked (with the help of his wife Roz) 11 Green Arrow shorties for a total of 65 pages. As was the convention with the Fifties floppies all the stories began with a Splash Panel rather than a Splash Page.

  1. Need you to explain that word please. The only floppies I know of are ears and low volume computer storage discs.

    1. Back when it was first declared that digital comics would make comic books extinct there was a movement to rename comic books as floppies on Kirby-L. I guess it didn't catch on...

  2. I can see why not, since you're talking about a kind of digital storage in either case, and that would be confusing. But hey, I heard on Funny You Should Ask that comic book collecting it called panelology. In all my years as a collector, I have never heard anyone call it that. Am I just too antisocial to be aware? It's possible. I haven't even paid attention to the news in years.
