56 YEARS AGO TODAY

Not only could you have seen the Beatles perform "All My Lovin', "I Saw Her Standing There," and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" on television for the second time in two weeks. You could also have seen a new episode of MY FAVORITE MARTIAN. You would also have been able to buy new this Kirby-drawn comic that introduced one of the more enduring Silver Age females in the Marvel Universe. (Who we have yet to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!!!)

It was the Kirby/Berry era of comics. This was the 4th Kirby/Berry cover of 1975.
It was also the 4th comic of 1975 to have 20 Kirby edited/written/drawn pages. All 80 of those pages were inked by Berry.

59 YEARS AGO TODAY

proto-Marvel had already shipped half of their comics for February:  KID COLT OUTLAW #98, STRANGE TALES #84, TALES OF SUSPENSE #17 and TALES TO ASTONISH #19.

100% of those comics had Kirby/Ayers covers and 75% of them had 13 pages of interior Kirby art.
The origin of proto-Magneto (from STRANGE TALES #84) was about a year ahead of its time.

All four came poly bagged.  Only one of the four had interior Kirby artwork.
SATAN'S SIX #1 had 10 pages of Kirby pencil art embellished by Austin, Ditko, Miller, Royer and Sinnott.

35 YEARS AGO TODAY

There had only been one comic released so far in 1985 with Kirby art.
Not only did WHO'S WHO #2 have four pages of Kirby/Theakston artwork it also had art by Joe Kubert, Gene Colan, Carmine Infantino, Kevin O'Neil, Curt Swan and Gil Kane.

This Kirby/Ditko full-pager first appeared in 1960.

It would be more than a decade before it would be reprinted. Nearly two decades later it was included in the Ancient Menaces section of MONSTER MASTERWORKS, a book that includes a text "treatment on the subject of monsters in storytelling" by King Kirby.

So far 1944 was a good year to be Kirby fan. Four comics were already published with Kirby-drawn stories for a combined 66 pages. Two of them also had Kirby covers.
One of which was his 24th consecutive cover for this title.

This one also had 17 interior pages written and drawn by Kirby increasing his 1977 total to 51 pages.
